Plan for Small Business Saturday®
But you do want to be a part of the movement of Shop Small. I like the idea because it reminds the general public that small business owners can provide you with a service that the big business can’t. And – small businesses need help.
Forget about slashing prices, here is how you can prepare for sales on Small Business Saturday® on November 24th:
- Offer what Big Businesses usually can’t; customized service and product knowledge
- Create a compelling offer/incentive
- The key here is to know your audience. What does your best customer want or need? What would really wow this customer?
- What would inspire your best customer to buy and or refer the offer to their friends?
Keep in mind that you don’t always have to discount, but you could provide a gift with purchase or free shipping. You could create a product bundle. The ideas could be endless.
As early as 4-5 weeks prior to Small Business Saturday (Week of October 22nd or 29th) you’ll want to start promoting your Shop Small In-Store Signage, email or Facebook Promotion. Make customers aware of the special day and the importance of shopping small. Announce your offer 3 weeks prior and send reminders of the offer in the weeks leading up to Small Business Saturday.
