Are you achieving your 2012 goals?
Have you taken the time to look at your current numbers vs. your quarterly goals?
As we head into the 3rd quarter now is the time to revisit your year end goals and to gage where your business is heading. Many companies create a plan for their year, with budgets, sales projections and initiatives. However after the year end goals have been set, some never look them again until year end.
But in my experience, a quarterly review is a good way to determine how you are doing.
When your plan was built, you made certain assumptions. These assumptions will vary, but could include performance expectations, market response, competition and other influences. So before you start making adjustments, take some time to check if there were any factors that may have changed.
If you’re breaking a sweat working IN your business instead of ON your business, go back to the drawing board and take a look at your business goals. You might consider hiring a business consultant to help you find the answers and put things in order. Sometimes with a few tweaks to your day, you can set the stage toward achieving your goals.
For Mid-year Business Success Planning ask yourself the below questions:
- What are my three most important goals to help me achieve my year end results?
- Do I manage my time effectively to obtain those goals?
- What are 2 to 3 action steps that I can take this week to get closer to the completion of each of my goals?
- What support system do I have in place? (Such as an assistant, business partner, consultant, mentor)
The key is finding the right things to focus on and making time to focus on them. Time management is essential to achieving your goals.
Also remember to try and avoid overcorrection as it could be just as dangerous as not looking at the numbers mid-year. That being said – we are looking at the numbers so that we can make adjustments if needed and have a successful year end.
